CONSERVATION
The Galapagos Conservation Trust was founded in 1995 to raise much needed funds to support the vital work of the Charles Darwin Research Station and the Galapagos National Park. We achieve our aims in many ways, including:
- Controlling the introduction of non-native animals and plants through a quarantine inspection programme
- Controlling those invasive species that have already reached the islands
- Promoting wise and sustainable use of the marine resources of Galapagos
- Assisting the development of information and education programmes
- Captive breeding and repatriation programmes for giant tortoises and land iguanas
- Funding the operations of the Charles Darwin Research Station
