Audley Travel Fundraising Trip to Mount Toubkal in 2007
Audley Travel are delighted to invite you to join a fundraising trek to the summit of Morocco's Mount Toubkal in May 2007. As part of their commitment to supporting a variety of worthwhile causes, this is the first trip Audley has offered with the specific aim of raising money for charity, including the Galapagos Conservation Trust.
The Atlas Mountains are three distinct ranges that extend some 500 kilometres through Morocco, dividing the interior of the country into strips of lower lying land. It is the High Atlas that is the most dramatic, containing North Africa's highest peak, Jebel Toubkal (4,167 metres), as well as countless Berber villages, terraced on to inaccessible ledges and perfectly preserving a tenacious culture. The trek will take you through steep valleys, rocky peaks, and past these tradional Berber villages as you make your way to the summit. Once there you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the High and Anti-Atlas ranges as well as the Sahara.
The five night itinerary, commencing on 17 May 2007, includes two familiarisation treks and the actual climb will take place over two nights, requiring an overnight on the mountain. Accommodation is at the spectacular Kasbah du Toubkal, located at the base of Jebel Toubkal.
The cost of this non-profit making trip is £995 per person based on two sharing, including flights, taxes, transfers, accommodation, meals and trek facilities. The price also includes a minimum £100 donation to their charity portfolio although they strongly encourage you to increase your donation by gaining sponsorship for your climb. For further details, or to request a trip dossier, please contact Katherine Goodsell on 01869 276 278 or visit www.audley.co.uk/features/toubkal.

Volunteering to help GCT
GCT needs people, like you, to help us by devoting some of your time, energy and enthusiasm to raising money for conservation in Galapagos. There are various ways of helping:
- You could enter a sponsored sporting event such as a local marathon
- You could take a stand at an event near you, e.g. festivals, conferences, etc.
- You could ask your employer to match your donation
- You could write an article for a local newspaper about Galapagos
- Are you a member of a local group, church or club? Do you go to a pub from time to time? Have you ever thought about getting your friends and colleagues to fundraise for GCT by holding a quiz, a coffee morning, a sponsored event? How about a bridge lunch?
- Do you have a beautiful garden? Would you be prepared to hold an open day to help Galapagos conservation?
- Did you take wonderful photos when you were in the islands? Would your friends enjoy a slide show?
- Could you hold a concert, poetry reading or even a Scottish country dancing evening in your home?
- Could you help us with GCT events? Or could you work in our office from time to time?
- The ideas are endless...
If you would like to help in these - or any other - ways, please contact GCT on +44 (0)20 7629 5049 or email gct@gct.org. We can let you have materials to support your efforts.
