YOUR BEQUEST

If you want to leave a legacy to GCT, the suggested wording for your Will would be:

A pecuniary legacy

Definition: a gift of a fixed sum of money in your Will is called a pecuniary bequest.

"I give, devise, and bequeath the sum of £_________ to the Galapagos Conservation Trust, 5 Derby Street, London, W1J 7AB United Kingdom, Registered Charity no. 1043470, to be used for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of the foundation or duly authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge to my executors".

A specific legacy

Definition: a particular named item left as a gift in your Will is known as a specific bequest - for example, a piece of jewellery.

"I give, devise, and bequeath (name the particular item or items) to the Galapagos Conservation Trust, 5 Derby Street, London, W1J 7AB United Kingdom, Registered Charity no. 1043470, to be used for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of the foundation or duly authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge to my executors".

Residue of estate

Definition: a gift of the remainder of the estate after all other bequests have been made and debts cleared.

If you wanted to leave the entire residue (remainder) of your estate to Galapagos Conservation Trust, the suggested wording for your Will would be:

"I give to the Galapagos Conservation Trust, 5 Derby Street, London, W1J 7AB United Kingdom, Registered Charity no. 1043470, all of the residue of my estate both real and personal, whatsoever and where ever situated, to be used for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of the foundation or duly authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge to my executors".

Share of estate

Definition: a gift of a percentage or portion share of the whole estate.

If you wanted to leave a portion of your estate to Galapagos Conservation Trust, the suggested wording of your Will would be:

"I give, devise, and bequeath ______ percent (or a fraction such as one half) of my estate to the Galapagos Conservation Trust, 5 Derby Street, London, W1J 7AB United Kingdom, Registered Charity no. 1043470, to be used for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of the foundation or duly authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge to my executors".
