Launch 2006:

British Chelonia Group Nov/Dec Newsletter

"12th October: Pauline Owen and I went to Milking Bank Primary School, Dudley, at the invitation of teacher Tom Garner (a member of the Galapagos Conservation Trust as well as the B.C.G.) to participate in the launch of their "Tortoise Club for Schools" project. After watching a video loaned by Bob Langton (who unfortunately was unable to be there) we answered questions from the pupils (year 5 and year 6) and introduced them to some tortoises we had taken with us. Their interest and enthusiasm was outstanding and to be able to actually "touch" a real live tortoise made their day! Having thanked Tom and his colleagues for their welcome and hospitality, we left, feeling that we had helped to lay the foundations for some future conservationists."
